Taught by Todd Thomas Brown
This 6-hour workshop focuses on the use of collage and mixed media in the development of varied textures within the painting surface. We will explore different thicknesses of paint, and the use of modeling paste and collage of varied materials, both organic and inorganic. Through these techniques, we discover how the painting becomes a sculptural object in which we can imbed other objects meaningful to us.
- 36″ x 48″ canvas (we use this large size for the increased physical range of motion and gesture with the arm/hand that it allows)
- Charcoal, rags, and items for creating texture and collage (colored papers, scraps, phone bills, love notes, leaves, grasses, sand, etc.)
- All other painting materials provided (brushes, paints, etc.)
