Hot Glass Cold Beer is our favorite long-running event, combining glass demonstrations, live music and refreshments. For a $25 donation, you can select your own hand-blown glass to drink your fill of beer or wine, and take it home when the evening is over! As an added bonus, save 10% off all classes and workshops when you register during the event! (Glasses are available while supplies last.)
The next installation of HGCB will feature Jaime Guerrero in the hot shop and Jeff Rogers and James Friedberg in the flameworking studio. Mark your calendar! It's coming up Saturday, December 8th at 6pm. Things wind down by 10pm, so it makes for a great starter for whatever else your night might have in store!
Sculptor and craftsman Jaime Guerrero's portfolio of work spans bold, geometric statement forms and intricate sculptural pieces, from Chicano street icons, to ancient Mayan and Aztec deities, to symbols of Mexican-American and Latino lifestyles and heritage, focusing on an effort to "[transcend] preconceived notions of identity". Jaime Guerrero has been exhibited internationally and now teaches youth as the Director of the Mudtown Glass Department at the Watts Labor Community Action Committee.
Jeff Rogers & James Friedberg
Looking for something a little cooler? Head next door to the flameshop! Jeff Rogers and James Friedberg are both long time friends of Public Glass and dedicated glass artists. Join us in the studio for their collaborative flameworking demonstration, where the two will be making beads, pendants, small animals and more! These demonstrations are a great place to get up close and personal, ask questions and learn more about flameworking!
