Our Cook the Book classes celebrate some of the best restaurants through their cookbooks. You’ll prep and cook a menu from the book as a group and then sit down together for an incredible meal.
In his first cookbook, Vietnamese Home Cooking, Charles Phan translates some Slanted Door favorites, as well as other Vietnamese classics, for the home kitchen. Jessica Battilana, the book’s co-author, will guide you through the recipes as you create a menu of dishes that showcase the best of Vietnam. She’ll walk you through the Vietnamese pantry and talk about the importance of prepping ahead when making these dishes. You’ll learn about timing, plating, and cooking techniques when you prepare classics like Green Papaya Salad and crispy Spring Rolls. Jessica will give you a peak inside the Slanted Door as you make these signature recipes with her expert guidance along the way.
Menu: Shrimp and Tamarind Soup, Spring Rolls, Green Papaya Salad with Rau Ram, Peanuts, and Crispy Shallots, Mung Bean Dumplings, Whole Fish with Tomatoes and Pickled Mustard Grees, Pork Clay Pot with Young Coconut Juice, and Bok Choy with Baby Shitake Mushrooms.
Note: Bring your cookbook, or this class may be purchased with a copy of the cookbook you will take home with you.
