Class: Betelnut at San Francisco Cooking School

Wednesday, March 20, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM

Our Best of Bay classes bring notable, local food talents into our teaching kitchens to share their expertise in a hands-on class.

Betelnut has been an iconic San Francisco restaurant ever since they opened their doors. Join Chef Alexander Ong as he works with you to create a menu of the restaurant’s classic Asian street food dishes, sharing his professional tips for selecting the best ingredients and using both classic and modern cooking techniques. Chef Alex will show you how to craft dumplings by hand, fry light and crispy calamari, and how plating these dishes family style makes them perfect for entertaining at home. You’ll end your day sitting down together to enjoy your Betelnut-inspired meal.

Some of the recipes you will prepare are: Szechuan Green Beans, Happy Buddha Dumplings, Chili Crusted Calimari, Cecilia's Minced Chicken in Lettuce Cups, Chicken and Beef Satay, Bein Pow Firecracker Chicken, and Malaysian Curry Laksa.
