Welcome to the Cannaisseur Dinner Series, the brainchild of professional chef Coreen Carroll and her fiancé, Ryan Bush.
Coreen moved to San Francisco with the goal of leaving the corporate world and entering the culinary one — she started attending the San Francisco Cooking School, and worked jobs ranging from a butcher’s apprentice to a teaching assistant at SF Cheese School’s catering department. At that time, she was also part of the underground pop-up scene at SubCulture Dining with Chef Russell Jackson.
Her latest endeavor? Monthly underground supper clubs, particularly of the weed variety.
“The Cannaisseur event is about bringing people together that are interested in cannabis, but creating an environment that doesn’t exemplify the ‘stoner,'” says Carroll.
The couple first got involved in the marijuana industry by co-founding the popular Madame Munchie, the leader of gourmet weed-infused macarons. After selling the company to their partner, they joined the company EatWith to launch the Cannaisseur Series.
According to San Francisco Business Times, the dinner nights consist of “four courses of gourmet food, a selection of beer and wine, and a carefully curated list of marijuana to have between courses.”
A past dinner party began with a Medicated Abuse Bouche — the only weed-infused edible of the night — and in between each course, the patrons enjoyed an intermezzo cannabis joint. As far as strains go, they all are sun grown marijuana that is sourced from California.
“We hope that events like this will create a better and cooler environment for people to come and share cannabis together,” Carroll remarks. You don’t always have to go to a bar and have drinks, you can just smoke a joint and meet a new friend.”
Of course, all attendees must have a legal medical card in order to partake, as well as be over the age of 21.
