Hey, that Cronut thing looks pretty tasty. And I bet my sweetheart would love one for Valentine’s Day! I’ll just pop into Dominique Ansel Bakery and – oh God, the line is how long?! Bieber will have cleaned up his act, released a tell-all memoir, and rediscovered Jesus by the time I get out of there!

Ain’t nobody got time for that.

Lucky for you, we’ve got the lowdown on a bunch of other totally unique and super scrumptious New York City treats. Your sweetie won’t be able to resist these sweets.

The Inside Scoop: Schmackary’s has come a long way from its early days as a delivery service operating out of a 400 square foot apartment. It’s now a Midtown store serving up more than 45 unique flavors – made with more than 115 natural gourmet ingredients – to New York City’s cookie monsters.

Put It In Your Mouth: The Schmack Snacks. This is what would happen if a cookie mated with a cupcake and produced offspring. Delicious, delicious offspring. Pictured flavors: Sch’mores, German Chocolate, PB&J.

3. Rice Krispie Treats from Mister Krisp.

4. Marshmallow-Pocky Ice Cream from Ample Hills.

Image: Ample Hills

The Inside Scoop: It all began when Brian Smith decided to take a break from writing science fiction movies and turned his imagination towards making the most entertaining ice cream around. All creations from Ample Hills are handcrafted in small batches from the freshest local, hormone-free ingredients.

Put It In Your Mouth: Calcifer’s Hot Cocoa Coals features bits of Pocky broken up into toasted marshmallow ice cream, swirls of cinnamon, and ribbons of chocolate. Other Ample Hills flavors include Salted Crack Caramel and Mexican Hot Chocolate.

5. The Inventive Cakes from Flour Shop.

The Inside Scoop: This is what art looks like in cake form. The talented folks at Flour Shop take baking to a whole new level with a mind-blowing medley of cakes, cakeballs, cookies, chocolate-covered strawberries, and other drool-worthy goodies. Even Vogue has taken notice.

Put It In Your Mouth: Getting your Valentine’s Day date actual fast food? Bad. Getting your Valentine’s Day date cake that looks like fast food? Awesome.

6. Mochi from Patisserie Tomoko.

Image: Patisserie Tomoko

The Inside Scoop: Located in Williamsburg, Patisserie Tomoko is a relative newcomer to the NYC dessert scene. The cafe and bakery blends French and European style pastries with a touch of Japanese inspired tastes and flavors. Choose between a three course flight of desserts, with the option of a wine or sake pairing, at the Dessert Bar or the daily offerings at the Take Out counter.

Put It In Your Mouth: Patisserie Tomoko’s mochi are traditional Japanese rice flour sweets with decidedly non-traditional twists. Case in point: the Earl Grey Chocolate Mochi featured here.

7. Macarons from Macaron Parlour.

Image: Macaron Parlour

The Inside Scoop: Macaron Parlour pays homage to all the typical buttercream and ganache macaron fillings, but what really stands out are their unconventional and savory options. They also claim to be the first to make select macarons with brown sugar, which they believe enhances flavor and complements the filling. We’re not gonna argue with the experts.

Put It In Your Mouth: Did somebody say Candied Bacon With Maple Cream Cheese? Yep, they sure did. They also said S’mores, Honey & Cognac, Matcha, and – wait for it – Cheetos.

8. Cowgirl Chocolate Bars from FINE & RAW Chocolate.

Image: FINE & RAW

The Inside Scoop: If you’re going to get your date chocolates on Valentine’s Day, you’d best be sure they’re not on sale at CVS. FINE & RAW’s mission is to save the world through silliness and chocolate – which is a mission we can get behind. The company crafts artisan confections using conscious ingredients and innovative low heat techniques to keep the chocolate’s raw vitality and flavor.

Put It In Your Mouth: The Cowgirl Chocolate Bars are a limited edition release in 4 flavors: sea salt, espresso, ginger, and alderwood smoked salt. Added bonus: saucy pin-up cowgirl illustrations to get you in the mood for the rest of the night. Yeehaw!

9. Spicy Chocolate Butter Crunch from Baking Soda Shop.

Image: Baking Soda Shop

The Inside Scoop: In 2009 Kerry and Christen relocated from their small towns to Manhattan, where they pursued their respective culinary passions. When they met working at a restaurant, magic happened…and the Baking Soda Shop was born. Now they’re serving up homemade toffee coated in chocolate made from fair trade organically grown cocoa beans at Bryan Graham’s Catskill Mountains workshop.

Put It In Your Mouth: Of course the original Butter Crunch toffee is delicious, but why not kick things up a notch with the spicy version, made with cayenne pepper and topped with red sea salt?

10. Taffy from Salty Road.

Image: Salty Road

The Inside Scoop: Salty Road began its journey in late June 2011, when a group of friends opened an organic produce stand near the beach in Far Rockaway, Queens and had the idea to make salt water taffy to sell on the boardwalk. Now they’ve scaled up and collaborate with a candymaker in Maine to keep up with the high demand for their sweet, stretchy treats.

Put It In Your Mouth: It’s nearly impossible to pick a winning flavor from Salty Road’s mouthwatering line-up. Is it the Snow Mint? The Bergamot? The Salty Caramel Apple? Can’t we just have them all? Pretty please?

11. Caramels from Liddabit Sweets.

Images: Liddabit Sweets

The Inside Scoop: Liddabit uses as many local and seasonal ingredients as possible to create fresh, responsibly made and, most importantly, delectable sweets. The founding duo scored a coveted vendor slot at the famed Brooklyn Flea Market back in 2008, and they haven’t looked back since. You can now find their glorious goodies at their flagship store in Chelsea Market.

Put It In Your Mouth: There are a lot of tasty things happening here, but we’re going to have to give our vote to the caramels. Flavors include Apple Cider, Fig-Ricotta, Beer & Preztel, and Stout Gingerbread.

12. Indie Treats from Mouth.

Images: Mouth

The Inside Scoop: The idea for Mouth, an online store curating the best products from independent food makers, was born and raised in Brooklyn (like most of the cool ideas these days). What exactly does “indie food” mean? It means homemade. It means small batch. It means beautiful packaging. It means taking risks. And it means goodies so good you’ll want to stuff yourself until you have to be rolled out of the room like a blown-up blueberry kid visiting Willy Wonka’s factory.

Put It In Your Mouth: Nothing says “Screw you, cheesy corporate greeting card holiday!” like sinking your teeth into an anatomically correct heart chocolate. Also notable: spiked chocolate sauce, chocolate salami, and incredible packages like the “Grin and Beer It” taster pictured above.

13. Cupcakes from Robicelli’s.

Image: Robicelli’s

The Inside Scoop: Robicelli’s claims their goal is “to democratize dessert,” which it turns out means making a bucketload (or is that “an ovenload?”) of incredible cupcakes, brownies, whoopie pies, and more. With 350 rotating flavors and counting, you are guaranteed to find old favorites mixed in with a whole bunch of things you never even dared dream were possible.

Put It In Your Mouth: Robicelli’s “very special cupcakes,” like the Chicken ‘n’ Waffles flavor, only appear a few times a year but there are plenty of other famous flavors – like Apricot Chardonnay, Pecan Potato Chip, and the Bluth – to keep your mouth happy in the meantime.

14. Gourmet Marshmallows from MitchMallows.

Images: MitchMallows

The Inside Scoop: MitchMallows catapults marshmallows into the 21st century and straight to the top of the must-have designer desserts list. There’s a reason many have declared them to be “the new cupcake” – these artisanal pillows of fat-free and gluten-free goodness are opening up an exciting new chapter in NYC dessert-making and making this the marshmallow’s Golden Age.

Put It In Your Mouth: We can only assume Mitch is certifiably insane, because his marshmallow creations include Churros, Creamsicle, FlufferNutter, Ginger Wasabi, Maple Syrup Pancake, Merlot, Mom’s Apple Pie, Pretzels & Beer, and the two masterpieces pictured here: Wine & Cheese and BLT S’More.

15. 23k Gold Bacon from Baconery.

The Inside Scoop: Bacon.
